(Pure Tamil Words Only – No Sanskrit Influence)

வணக்கம்! (Vaṇakkam!) Welcome to Lesson 16!
In this lesson, we will learn:
✅ How to talk about travel and transportation.
✅ How to ask for and give directions in Tamil.
✅ Common phrases used when traveling.
✅ Writing and speaking exercises.

🔹 1️⃣ Common Travel Words (பயணம் தொடர்பான சொற்கள்)

👉 Exercise: Try to memorize at least 5 words from the table!

🔹 2️⃣ Asking for Directions (திசைமாற்றம் கேட்பது)

👉 Exercise: Try asking for directions using these phrases!

🔹 3️⃣ Giving Directions (திசைமாற்றம் கூறுவது)

📌 “பேருந்து நிலையம் அருகில்தான் இருக்கிறது.”
(Pēruntu nilaiyam arukiltāṉ irukkiṟatu.) → (The bus station is nearby.)

📌 “நேராக சென்று, இடப்பக்கம் திரும்புங்கள்.”
(Nērāka ceṉṟu, iṭappakkam tirumpuṅkaḷ.) → (Go straight and turn left.)

📌 “ரயில் நிலையம் இது போயிற்று.”
(Rayil nilaiyam itu pōyiṟṟu.) → (The train station is that way.)

📌 “இந்தச் சாலையில் நேராக சென்று, முதலாம் கடை வெள்ளைக் கட்டிடம் இருக்கும்.”
(Intac cālaiyil nērāka ceṉṟu, mutalām kaṭai veḷḷaik kaṭṭiṭam irukkum.) → (Go straight on this road, the first shop is a white building.)

👉 Exercise: Imagine someone asks you for directions to a place. Try answering them in Tamil!

🔹 4️⃣ Travel Conversations (பயண உரையாடல்கள்)

✈ At the Airport (விமான நிலையத்தில்):
📌 “எனக்கு வானூர்திக்கான சீட்டு வேண்டும்.”
(Eṉakku vānūrttikkāṉa cīṭṭu vēṇṭum.) → (I need a flight ticket.)

📌 “இந்தப் பயண ஆவணங்கள் சரியா?”
(Intap payaṇa āvaṇaṅkaḷ sariyā?) → (Are these travel documents correct?)

🛤 At the Train Station (தொடர்வண்டி நிலையத்தில்):
📌 “தொடர்வண்டி எப்போது வருவதாக இருக்கிறது?”
(Toṭarvaṇṭi eppōtu varuvataha irukkiṟatu?) → (When is the train arriving?)

📌 “பயணிக்கும் இடத்துக்கு என்ன விலை?”
(Payaṇikkum iṭattukku eṉṉa vilai?) → (What is the fare to my destination?)

🏨 At a Hotel (விடுதியில்):
📌 “ஒரு அறை கிடைக்குமா?”
(Oru aṟai kiṭaikkumā?) → (Is a room available?)

📌 “எந்த அறை சிறப்பானது?”
(Eṉta aṟai ciṟappāṉatu?) → (Which room is better?)

👉 Exercise: Try practicing these sentences in a conversation!

🔹 5️⃣ Talking About Your Trip (உங்கள் பயணம் பற்றி பேசுதல்)

Example Sentences:

📌 “நான் கோவிலுக்குச் சென்றேன். அந்த இடம் மிகவும் அழகாக இருந்தது.”
(Nāṉ kōvilukkuc ceṉṟēṉ. Anta iṭam mikavum aḻakāka iruntatu.) → (I went to the temple. That place was very beautiful.)

📌 “நான் தமிழ்நாட்டில் சுற்றுப் பயணம் சென்றேன். எனக்கு மிக பிடித்தது!”
(Nāṉ Tamiḻnāṭṭil cuṟṟuppayaṇam ceṉṟēṉ. Eṉakku mika piṭittatu!) → (I traveled around Tamil Nadu. I loved it!)

👉 Exercise: Write a short paragraph about your last trip!

🔹 6️⃣ Example Paragraph (என் பயண அனுபவம்)

“நான் கடந்த மாதம் மதுரை சென்றேன். பேருந்தில் பயணம் செய்தேன். மதுரை கோவில் மிகவும் அழகாக இருந்தது. அங்கே நான் பழம்பெரும் கலாச்சாரத்தைப் பார்த்தேன். மதுரையின் உணவு மிகச் சிறப்பாக இருந்தது. நான் மீண்டும் செல்ல விரும்புகிறேன்!”
