🔹 1️⃣ Essential Vocabulary for Directions (முக்கிய வார்த்தைகள்)

Here are some common words used when asking or giving directions:

Left	இடது	Iḍathu
Right	வலம்	Valam
Straight	நேர்	Nēr
Turn	திருப்பு	Tiruppu
Go	போ	Pō
Come	வா	Vā
Stop	நில்	Nil
Near	அருகில்	Arugil
Far	தொலைவில்	Toḷaivil
In front of	முன்பு	Muṉpu
Behind	பின்னால்	Piṉṉāl
Beside	அருகே	Arugē

Here are some common questions used when asking for directions:

Where is this place?	இது எங்கு உள்ளது?	Ithu eṅku uḷḷathu?
How can I go to the station?	நிலையத்திற்குப் எப்படி போவது?	Nilaiyatthirku eppaṭi pōvathu?
Is it near or far?	அது அருகிலா அல்லது தொலைவிலா?	Athu arugilā allathu toḷaivilā?
Can you show me the way?	நீங்கள் வழி காட்ட முடியுமா?	Nīṅkaḷ vaḻi kāṭṭa muṭiyumā?
Which road should I take?	நான் எந்த வழியை எடுக்க வேண்டும்?	Nāṉ entha vaḻiyai eḍukka vēṇḍum?

🔹 3️⃣ How to Give Directions in Tamil

If someone asks you for directions, you can use these phrases:

English	Tamil	Pronunciation
Go straight	நேராக போங்க	Nērāga pōṅga
Turn left	இடது பக்கம் திரும்புங்க	Iḍathu pakkam tirumpuṅga
Turn right	வலது பக்கம் திரும்புங்க	Valathu pakkam tirumpuṅga
Walk a little further	கொஞ்சம் முன்னே செல்லுங்கள்	Koñcam muṉṉē celluṅkaḷ
The place is near	அந்த இடம் அருகில் இருக்கிறது	Anta iḍam arugil irukkiṟathu
The place is far	அந்த இடம் தொலைவில் இருக்கிறது	Anta iḍam toḷaivil irukkiṟathu
It is on the right side	அது வலப்பக்கத்தில் இருக்கிறது	Athu valap pakkaththil irukkiṟathu
It is on the left side	அது இடப்பக்கத்தில் இருக்கிறது	Athu iḍap pakkaththil irukkiṟathu

Conversation 1: Asking for Directions to a Hotel

🔹 Person 1:
“மன்னிக்கவும், இந்த பகுதியில் ஒரு ஹோட்டல் இருக்கிறதா?”
(Maṉṉikkavum, inta pakutiyil oru hōṭṭal irukkiṟathā?)
→ “Excuse me, is there a hotel in this area?”

🔹 Person 2:
“ஆம், அருகில் ஒரு ஹோட்டல் இருக்கிறது.”
(Ām, arugil oru hōṭṭal irukkiṟathu.)
→ “Yes, there is a hotel nearby.”

🔹 Person 1:
“நான் எப்படி செல்லலாம்?”
(Nāṉ eppaṭi cellalām?)
→ “How can I go there?”

🔹 Person 2:
“நேராக போங்க, பின்னர் இடது பக்கம் திரும்புங்க.”
(Nērāga pōṅga, piṉṉar iḍathu pakkam tirumpuṅga.)
→ “Go straight, then turn left.”

Conversation 2: Asking for the Nearest Bus Stop

🔹 Person 1:
“மன்னிக்கவும், அருகிலுள்ள பேருந்து நிறுத்தம் எங்கு உள்ளது?”
(Maṉṉikkavum, arugiluḷḷa pēṟuntu niṟuttam eṅku uḷḷathu?)
→ “Excuse me, where is the nearest bus stop?”

🔹 Person 2:
“நேராக போங்கள், வலது பக்கம் திரும்புங்கள். அங்கு பேருந்து நிறுத்தம் இருக்கும்.”
(Nērāga pōṅgaḷ, valathu pakkam tirumpuṅgaḷ. Aṅku pēṟuntu niṟuttam irukkum.)
→ “Go straight, turn right. There will be a bus stop there.”

🔹 5️⃣ Tamil Proverbs About Travel & Guidance (பயணம் மற்றும் வழிகாட்டுதல் தொடர்பான பழமொழிகள்)

“வழியைக் காட்டும் கை அம்பலிக்குப் போகாது.”
(Vaḻiyai kāṭṭum kai ambalikku pōkātu.)
→ “The hand that shows the way never gets lost.”
“பயணம் செய்தால் புத்திசாலித்தனம் உண்டாகும்.”
(Payanam ceytāl puttisaalitthanam uṇṭākum.)
→ “Travel brings wisdom and intelligence.”
“திசை தெரிந்தால் தடம் மாறாது.”
(Tisai terintāl taṭam māṟātu.)
→ “If you know the direction, you won’t go astray.”
